Project Overview
Loadout provides business intelligence and data-driven solutions for companies in the gaming and esports industry. For this client, I have developed the brand package and application for both print and digital media. Inspired by the cross-bar weapon loadout design in video games, the logomark symbolizes the four main pillars of their data services: Proprietary Research, Syndicated Research, Custom Research, and Measurement.

Logo Inspiration
The LOADOUT brand mark is a combination of two concepts that translate to who the company is and what they offer. The first concept is the cross inventory UI in games. Primarily made for easy access to equipment using the directional pad on a game controller, it is still used in many modern games to store commonly used equipment and skills. The player’s most essential equipment and skills are stored in the 4 quadrants that are accessible usually by pressing the directional buttons in a game controller. However, players often need more than 4 items readily accessible so some games have a stacked cross inventory UI that requires players to press a directional button multiple times to cycle through equipment stored in that quadrant.

Since LOADOUT offers Business Intelligence solutions that deals with data, the second concept for the brand mark is a data stack. Data is often messy and needs to be cleaned, organized, and analyzed to make sense of all the information collected. Also, in most iconography, data is visualized as an isometric stack.

Combining the two concepts gives us an idea of LOADOUT’s services providing easily accessible, organized, relevant data, and business solutions for clients in the game industry.
